Where the appointment queue runs out
A careers appointment is a scarce, high-value thing. Demand for one is not scarce. Much of what a student needs in between is not judgement, it is a second read: whether this CV answers this advert, whether the letter adds anything the CV did not, what the obvious interview questions will be. Career Auntie is built for that middle ground. It is not a substitute for the conversation your team has with a student about what they actually want to do.
What a student can do between appointments
A student can paste a CV and an advert and get between five and fifteen findings, each quoting the line in their own CV that prompted it, with no score attached. They can generate a tailored CV of about two pages, or a one-page cover letter as a formal UK business letter. They can store a career profile once and reuse it, and practise interview questions in writing against an advert they have saved. Free accounts get five credits every month, renewing automatically, with no card needed.
Grounded in the student's own evidence
The generation prompt cannot introduce a figure that is not in the source CV or profile, so a thin CV produces a thin draft rather than an invented one. Findings quote the student's own wording back to them. There is no score, no percentage match and no claim that a CV has been tested against a real applicant tracking system, because none of those could be honestly produced. It is AI, and there is no human reviewer step. Students edit every document before it goes anywhere.
A small, time-bounded pilot
Pilots are scoped narrowly on purpose: a named student group, a fixed window, written onboarding for students and for staff, and a review at the end before anything wider is discussed. A pilot that cannot be stopped cleanly on a known date is not a pilot.
Measures worth agreeing before it starts
Agree the measures with your team first rather than afterwards. Activation, meaning whether the students given access actually used it. Repeat use across the term. Self-reported confidence before and after. Progression to application and interview, where your own systems already record it. Career Auntie publishes no user counts, star ratings or testimonials, so a pilot report contains your institution's numbers and nothing borrowed.
Data protection and procurement
Any pilot goes through your institution's own data protection and procurement review, at your pace and in your order. Students upload PDF or Word files, and scanned PDFs are rejected because there is no text layer to read. CV text is capped at 20,000 characters for review and generation, and a job description at 10,000. The privacy policy sets out what is stored, and it is the document to send to your data protection officer.
Talking to Career Auntie about a pilot
If this looks like it would sit sensibly alongside what your team already runs, get in touch through support with the student group you have in mind, a rough window and your term dates. The scoping above is the starting position, not a fixed offer.
Common questions
Does this replace our careers appointments?
No, and it is not built to. It handles the second read between appointments: whether a CV answers a specific advert, whether a letter adds anything, what the likely interview questions are. Decisions about direction, sector and whether to apply at all still need the conversation your team has with the student.
Can students use it without an institutional purchase?
Yes. Anyone can create a free account, which gets five credits every month, renewing automatically, with no card needed. A CV review costs one credit and a tailored CV 1.45. A pilot changes what a defined group gets and what your team can see, not whether the product is available to students.
Does the AI write CVs for students?
It drafts from what the student gives it. The prompt cannot add a figure that is not in the source CV or career profile, so it reorders and rewords rather than inventing achievements. Students edit every draft in place before downloading it as PDF or Word, and nothing is submitted anywhere for them.
What does Career Auntie need from us to start?
A named student group, a start and an end date, and the name of whoever signs off data protection at your institution. Onboarding material for students and for staff is written before the pilot opens, and the closing review date is agreed at the same time as the opening one.
How is student data handled?
Under the published privacy policy, which is the document to send to your data protection officer. Uploads are PDF or Word only, up to 5MB and 50 pages. Scanned PDFs are rejected because there is no text in them to read. CV text is capped at 20,000 characters and a job description at 10,000.
